Lovejoy Letter Writing Campaign

Lovejoy Family!!  The 8th annual Lovejoy Letter Campaign for teachers and staff members has begun!  Many of you are familiar with this beloved tradition, but for those of you who are not, it is the time of year when we write appreciation letters for each of our teachers and staff members across the district.

The letters do not have to be elaborate or lengthy. The goal is just for people to write a note of thanks to show appreciation to their teachers, the staff and administration in our district.  It is the opportunity for us to take the time to let each person who makes a difference for us throughout the school day know how much we value them.

Please clearly label the envelope with the staff/teacher’s name and LLC (Lovejoy Letter Campaign) and return the letter to the box located at specified location of each campus no later than Friday November 12th.  Please feel free to share this message as we spread the word about the campaign. We do not want to add any extra burden to our kids and parents, but we do want to share how much we appreciate our teachers and staff - especially this year!

Please see the sign up genius below if you would like to donate blank card for this campaign.

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0545A5A72AA4FD0-hart

These can be left at the front desk. There will be cards on the front desk that you can use to write notes and a basket to place them in as well as a large bin with a red lid labeled “Lovejoy Letter Writing Campaign” for dropping off letters outside the front door of the school. We will start collecting notes the week of 10/25/2021, and the deadline for letters is 11/12/2021.

We need help in the Library!!!

Our librarian could use some extra support with various projects in the library. The sign up below is for two-hour time blocks Monday through Friday for the remainder of the calendar year. Please consider volunteering!

This year’s show will encourage you and your students to "SQUASH" hate and hurt, "TURNIP" love and joy, and grow "GOOD STUFF" in the World. Nana Puddin' discovers, "If it doesn't help you grow, then you can let it go." Since the World is our garden, let's get GROWING!

Special and Gifted Education
Special Education Update

In February, the state released new versions of two important documents pertaining to IDEA and students receiving special education services. These documents are a great resource for parents. They explain many of the legal aspects of the process in easy to friendly language.

     â— Procedural Safeguards

     â— ARD Guide

The Notice of Procedural Safeguards: Rights of Parents of Students with Disabilities (Procedural Safeguards) explains parents’ specific rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The Procedural Safeguards fulfills the current legal requirements for the federally prescribed content of this notice.

The ARD Guide contains information that parents need to effectively participate in an ARD committee meeting for their child. The ARD Guide is not a replacement for the Procedural Safeguards. The purpose of the ARD Guide is to encourage a common understanding of the individualized education program (IEP) process for parents, school personnel, and communities
